Meet our students
Click the video below to watch an EKU graduate student in communication disorders/speech language pathology share her story.
Hi! My name is Brittani, and I am from Hazard, Kentucky. I previously went to Transylvania University before coming to Eastern Kentucky University to pursue a degree in communication disorders. I enjoy interacting and communicating with others, and I wanted to help children and adults who have communicating difficulties. I wanted to impact their lives in a positive way; therefore, by becoming a speech-language pathologist, I could provide them with effective communication skills so that they may have a better quality of life.
I chose to pursue my degree at EKU for several reasons. First, the communication disorders faculty is amazing. They are very knowledgeable in their field of expertise. They are also understanding and supportive. They truly care about you and your educational successes. Second, it is great that EKU has their own speech-language-hearing clinic. Here, student clinicians get to experience having their own client under professional supervision. As a student clinician, you create lesson plans, provide intervention, and write soap notes for your individual client. This is a great opportunity to get a variety of clinical experiences.
EKU’s communication disorders program is truly unique. Not only do have awesome professors and great facilities, but you also make friends for a lifetime. It’s important to study hard, but most importantly have fun!!
